Montreal’s Underground City (RÉSO)

What can you say about a city that can build and maintain an entire underground network with over 30 kilometres of tunnels and passageways? Well Montreal is that city, and it boasts one of the largest underground complexes in the world. All I can say about Montreal is that it has managed to surprise me every day.

The underground city is a multi-level network of tunnels and stairs that connects metro stations, shopping centres, hotels, and other buildings around Downtown Montreal. The underground city makes it possible to walk for miles and miles without needing to step outside, and this is useful when you’re an Australian and you have never learnt how to walk through snow.
